About our Region

Gisborne, on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand, is the first city in the world to see the light of each new day and had the honour of welcoming the new millennium.
Our club hosted the year 2000 New Zealand Friendship Force Conference.

One can trace the footsteps of Captain Cook as it was here that the great explorer and navigator discovered New Zealand in October, 1769.
Gisborne is noted for its beaches, agriculture, horticulture, farming, forestry and wine production.
With a moderate climate our guests enjoy good food, fine wine, sporting and recreational pursuits, arts, crafts and culture.

Visit Whangara Marae, where the film "Whale Rider" was made.

It is a pleasure to show our beautiful area to new friends - you will be very welcome.
