Auckland North Shore Friendship Force was founded in 1992 and currently has 46 members. They are mostly retired and come from many different walks of life.
The club is happy to host 2-3 exchanges per year but suggests you avoid the colder months, June, July and August.
Maximum number we are able to host is 21. We also enjoy interclub visits.
North Shore City, where our club is located, is on the northern side of the beautiful Waitemata Harbour and is part of Greater Auckland (population over 1 million).
Auckland City, which lies on an isthmus between the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean, is known as the "City of Sails" for the numerous sailing activities available on the harbour. Appearing to guard the harbour and the islands of the Hauraki Gulf is majestic Rangitoto Island, an extinct volcano, one of many in the Auckland region. Rangitoto is easily climbed and provides magnificent views from the summit.
There are many safe, clean, golden sandy beaches around the harbour and gulf and surf beaches an hour away from the CBD, on the rugged west coast. There are also two thermal pools 35 and 45 minutes north of North Shore City (bring your swimsuits).
On the "Shore" we have a fine university, international grade golf courses, many lovely parks, walking trails, a thriving arts scene, cafes galore, excellent restaurants and facilities for every sport you can think of.
For bird lovers, migrating gannets can be viewed in the spring.
Climate: temperate - 2100 sunshine hours per year, average summer temperature 23 deg C.
We invite you to visit us. You will be warmly welcomed.
