CLUB PROFILE

Club:- The Friendship Force of Rotorua Lakes and District

Cathryn Bruning President. E-Mail

The Rotorua club was established in 1996 and is probably the smallest club in New Zealand. We have only 16 households to call on for hosting and therefore the ideal number of Ambassadors is 20 maximum.

About Us

Rotorua is the major tourist centre of the North Island with a population of approximately 70,000. We have a very strong Maori presence and Maori culture is everywhere. Concert parties are to be found in almost every hotel and in the main Marae (Maori Meeting  House). Other attractions include geysers, mud pools, steam vents and hot pools. There are 9 major lakes in the Rotorua district and all hold good stocks of trout. Fishermen can fly fish, spin or troll for these prized fish. Weights of up to 20 lb are heard of but most average below 5 lb.

Rotorua is situated some 230 Km south of Auckland International Airport and a feeder service flies to Rotorua. For larger groups a coach service from Auckland is the most economical. We are approximately 80 Km north of Lake Taupo and about 60 Km from the east coast.
